Electric Teaching has been around since 1992 when I started teaching middle school students how to use basic computer software in La Jolla, California (La Jolla Country Day School). I had just graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a Mathematics Degree. Writing computer programs that helped students with basic math but kept them engaged became important to me. After 20 years of teaching, watching, and learning, this web site is my opportunity to help students all over the world connect key components of mathematics.
Since 2002, I have been teaching high school mathematics at Seattle Academy. I feel fortunate to work in a community that is willing to look ahead in terms of technology and support. My first puzzle was created to bring students up to the Smartboard at the front of the room and help them retain the connections between graphs and equations. When I am not making puzzles or youtube video lessons, I love spending time with my family playing games, camping, boarding, or biking to the park.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Electric Teaching. New content is being added periodically. Please like us on Facebook below to receive announcements and blog any questions or comments.
I am making math and Python programming lessons that I use for my high school courses. It has allowed me to 'flip' the classroom at times to expand the activities I can do during class as well as help students with the harder homework assignments.
Visit my math teaching services addition to this site where I have posted my video lessons and additional projects for math and programming classes.
